Whether it’s your first day back at work or you are rounding out your first year, at some points in your journey of working mom-hood, you will find yourself wondering: Am I doing the right thing? Am I screwing up my kids? Will I regret this someday? Natural and very real concerns – yes. Helpful to keep you on your feet – no.
One simple and queen-venient tool for reducing negative thinking is the mantra. A mantra is something you repeat to yourself in some way – whether out loud, in front of a mirror – or in your head while you drive – that will aid in positive thinking and meditation. Mantras can be written on your mirror, hanging on your wall, or written repeatedly in your journal. You can do this anywhere at anytime and immediately feel the effects of positive thinking. No matter when or how you chose to use your mommy mantra, these confidence-building catchphrases can help ease your working mom worries and remind you that are doing the right thing for your family. Here are a few of my favorites:
- I am a wonderful mother.
- I am an inspiration to my children.
- I’ve got this.
- I am crushing this motherhood thing.
- I am a boss.
- I am in control of my life choices.
- I’m focused on the quality of time with my kids.
- I’m teaching my children independence.
- I’m contributing where my family needs me most.

- I am great at what I do.
- I have a lot to offer in my career.
